CRIMINALITY is a podcast for those of us who love reality TV, true crime, and want to hear all the juicy stories where the two genres intersect.
BECAUSE LOVING REALITY ISN’T A CRIME
THE HOSTS
Every other Friday, hosts, Melissa (one half of Moms and Murder podcast) and Rebekah (host of DIE-ALOGUE podcast), will share the true story of a reality personality who faced more than just champagne problems. You won’t find murder stories here, but fear not, there are crimes a plenty - fraud, arrests, mugshots, scandals, and more.
MELISSA
REBEKAH
FOFTY Shades of Rand
Vanderpump Rules gave us LALA, but Melissa is giving us RAND. Randell Emmet, that is. Rand went from a young, ambitious film student to rolling with a star-studded entourage in Hollywood. He eventually had enough clout to win over Lala, but was less lucky in business than he was in love. He was known to use investors' money to pay off debts which got him in more than one lawsuit, and one very public feud with a man who refused to be short-changed. We are forever indebted to Fifty Cent for all that came after. Whatever you do, listen to this episode now, because on Monday it might be too late…
Tarek + Christina: FLIP FLOP or FLIM FLAM?
Rebekah leads us into new territory today; a real estate territory! But first, Melissa and Rebekah have to talk all things LOVE IS BLIND Season 2 - and they do. If you want to avoid spoilers, skip ahead to around 22:30.
Shanna Moakler Rocks + Rolls with the Punches
Forget meeting the Barkers, it’s time to meet Ms. Shanna Moekler, an accomplished performer and professional in her own right. From her early success in state and national pageants, to her time on TV + Film sets with the likes of Billy Idol, Mario Lopez, and Drew Barrymore, Shanna captivated those around her with her high energy, likable personality and of course, her undeniable beauty. She’s been romantically linked to Dennis Quaid, Oscar De La Hoya and Travis Barker, and while she has mostly stayed out of trouble, there was of course, some star-studded legal drama along the way. (Looking at you, Paris Hilton!) And because all our stories eventually lead back to a Kardashian, there’s some Travis Barker involvement to round out this rock star love story that went south.
Catherine Oxenberg: Warrior Princess
Catherine Oxenberg, daughter of the Princess of Yugoslavia, sort of made Princesses her brand. She twice played Princess Diana on TV movies, then was billed as a princess in the 2005 Lifetime reality show, “I Married a Princess.” But when she and her daughter, India unwittingly joined the NXIVM cult, she had to tap into her warrior side to rescue her daughter and shut the cult down. Listen in as Rebekah shares Catherine’s story and some bizarre details about how NXIVM operated at its peak.
Tori Spelling: 9021 OH-NO
Welcome to the 25th episode of CRIMINALITY - because loving reality (TV) isn’t a crime! Melissa shares the “stori” of a woman who has TV in her blood. Tori Spelling grew up in a life of luxury due to the successful shows her Dad, Aaron Spelling, created. But she went on to have a “Rags to Riches in Reverse” kind of story. From a measly inheritance to back taxes, and a couple pricey lawsuits, Tori Spelling was “inn” over her head financially. Today’s episode has a lot of nostalgic tv memories and a video clip you will never unsee!
Life in the Fab Lane: KiMOra Money, KiMOra Problems
Kimora Lee has been living life in the fab lane (Style Network 2007!) since she became a model at the tender age of 13. She has built an empire for herself and her five kids. Now if the men in her life could stop trying to tear it down. From joint ventures and split custody, legal battles and criminal investigations, Kimora could be living at peace in her House of Fab if it weren’t for Russel Simmons, Djimon Honsu, and Tim Leissner.
90 Day Fiance: Paul in Translation
The time has come. Melissa needed to really give Rebekah more than just a taste of 90 Day Fiance, and well, it left Rebekah with a bad taste in her mouth. You will soon learn why when you hear about an American named Paul who meets Brazilian Karine, and the red flags, miscommunications, and well, penis sheaths that would follow their love story. Don’t worry, it’s not all bad news, there’s also arson and machetes. Listen to this crazy story of a relationship that spans countries, court orders, and creepy miscommunications.
THE MANZOS: No Brownstone Left Unturned
Rebekah went to NJ for Thanksgiving and decided to take you all with her for today’s story! Let’s talk about the Manzos, shall we? Step into the Brownstone Manor while Rebekah shares details about the Manzo family at large, and the terrifying home invasion Dina Manzo and her fiancé, now husband, endured in 2017; but guess what? It wasn’t the first one. RHONJ has given us so much and this story has it all: Manzos, the mafia, and... black water. Tune in to learn more and in the meantime, let’s wake up every morning, and just hope things will get better. (love you, Gia!)
Falcon or Fiction: The Story of the Balloon Boy
Welcome to our 21st Episode - yay! Today we will set sail to Colorado where Melissa will share the incredible story of the Heene Family. Perhaps you remember them from Wife Swap? Me either. Perhaps BALLOON BOY jogs your memory? Yep. That’s right. Melissa makes a compelling case and comes down DEFINITIVELY on whether or not this was a publicity hoax. You have to listen and make up your own mind - Rebekah was on the edge of her seat complete with gasps along the ride. This episode also has super fun clips that are even more fun when you WATCH on YouTube!
BONUS: RHOBH Reunion Breakdown with Allegedly Bravo
Surprise! On this first Wednesday without a RHOBH reunion to watch, we thought we’d surprise you with a BONUS episode! Today we are joined by the delightfully brilliant hosts of ALLEGEDLY BRAVO. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/allegedly-bravo/id1564289271
Today we discuss our overall impressions of Erika and the reunion as a whole, then Melissa and Rebekah bring their remaining questions ( there’s a lot) for Cash and Lauren’s legal opinion. We learned so much and hope you will too!
PAWN STARS: Guns, Gold + Vegas
What happens in this episode, STAYS in the episode. Nah, go ahead and tell everyone, actually. Once you hear some of the details that Rebekah shares about the Pawn Stars guys (which include about two too many Rick’s), you won’t be able to keep it to yourself. Melissa was surprised to learn just HOW successful a show Pawn Stars is, and shocked at where the police found some of the most incriminating evidence at Chum Lee’s house.
Married at First Fight: Taylor + Brandon
This week, Melissa has a “love story” for us! She delves deep into the history of “Married at First Sight’ including the difficulties new couple Taylor and Brandon had ultimately leading to mutual restraining orders! She also shocks Rebekah with cringe-worthy audio from the wedding of Jamie and Doug, who are one of about a dozen MAFS “success stories.” Together they ponder the motives, meaning, and occasional misdemeanors at the heart of this iconic show.
Tareq + Michaele Salahi: Don't Start Believin' (Anything They Say)
Rebekah leads us to the United States capitol city, Washington DC, where we reminisce about the only Housewives franchise to have just one season. More importantly, she shares one possible reason: The Salahis. Gate Crashers. DC Grifters. State Dinner Scammers. Call them what you want, this couple dominated the news cycle for a brief moment in 2009/2010, but Rebekah will reveal how their journey didn’t end after their hearing before the Secret Service Committee did.
David Spade: Just (Don't) Shoot Me
Melissa takes us somewhere she always wants to go: behind the scenes of SNL. We meet Joe Dirt aka David Spade (or Dana Carvey if you’re Rebekah), to learn about his wild upbringing (guns and deserts), incredible career, and harrowing run-in with a violent assistant that we think more people should know about. And if you want to know theREALITY of it, David Spade is one of the new hosts adding some much needed life into “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Rachel Uchitel Spills the TEE
In today’s episode, Rebekah paints a more accurate picture of Rachel Uchitel - love her or hate her, there’s a lot to her story that the tabloids missed. Yes, she is the one who was in an extramarital relationship with golf legend, Tiger Woods, but she’s also the one who tragically lost her father to drugs, lost her fiance to the World Trade Center attacks, and who can’t seem to repair her tarnished image. From Celebrity Rehab to a little-known RHONY + RHOBH connection, this story is hardly PAR for the COURSE.
Sean Stewart: Son of Follywood
Melissa leads us down the Hollywood walk of fame in this episode, except the story’s leading man isn’t as famous as his rock legend father, and that’s kind of the problem. Sean Stewart, son of Rod, has a serious anger management problem that landed him in rehab and more than a few physical altercations. In typical rich kid fashion, he evaded jail and instead launched bogus businesses and starred in D list reality shows. It really seems like some guys have all the luck.
Charles + Diana Ingram: Who Coughs to be a Millionaire?
Join us as we charter new territory - game shows and the UK! Rebekah shares the biggest scandal in game show history that all began with a cough heard ‘round the world! From our 2021 perspective, that alone would be criminal, but was there more to it? A conspiracy to steal the grand prize? From Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to Wife Swap, and a whole lot in between, Rebekah breaks down the story allowing you to answer the ultimate question of their guilt or innocence, but sorry, you cannot phone a friend.
Ryan Lochte: Between a Lochte and a Hard Place
Have you caught the Olympic fever yet? Melissa presents a medal-worthy story in keeping with the global games, and it’s full of wins, losses, and...lies! Travel back in time with us to 2016 when US Olympic swimmer, Ryan Lochte, was desperately trying to emerge from Michael Phelp’s shadow. He was close to getting gold in Rio De Janeiro but ended up being remembered for a lot more than his near victory. Ryan sets out to redeem himself the best way he knows how… reality TV appearances, of course! Grab your country’s flag and get ready to cheer “JEAH” for this story that truly has it all: games, guns, and grills!
Bonus Episode: Elizabeth Lyn Vargas Interview Follow-Up to Episode 12
SURPRISE! We have a bonus episode for you! Remember those DM’s with Elizabeth Vargas that Rebekah mentioned? Well, they evolved into a call which is now an episode! As a follow-up to last week’s episode; (ELIZABETH VARGAS: Orange You Grateful for the OC?), we are bringing you a one on one interview with Rebekah and Elizabeth herself.
Elizabeth Vargas: Orange You Grateful for the OC?
It was just a matter of time until Rebekah covered a cult. But before she leads (not in a culty way) Melissa to Arizona and Missouri, she takes a minute to appreciate the splendor and entertainment mecca, Orange County, California. Rebekah then tackles the confession Elizabeth Lyn Vargas, of RHOC, made to Braunwyn last season. She didn’t give a lot of details, but Rebekah was determined to uncover everything she could - and what she found includes wild stories about Elizabeth’s grandmother, Dorothy Mae Bell, and her leadership of two fringe family cults and crimes including concealment of a dead body, and kidnapping charges. This is an episode of Criminality unlike the others.
